Kaleyra: Igniting Tech Innovation in the Indian Silicon Valley

22 May 2023 – Italy |  Corriere della Sera

[The article attached below featured a few days ago in the Economy section of the Corriere della Sera, authored by Isidoro Trovato, in light of Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni’s recent mission to New Delhi.]

India is the fifth largest economy in the world, with a population of one and a half billion and a GDP growth of 6.9%. In the dynamic tech landscape of the country, Kaleyra has emerged as a key player in the tech industry, embodying Italian excellence.

Seven years ago, Kaleyra stood out among Italian companies for its foresight and bet on the enormous potential of India. Today, Kaleyra is a global entity listed on the NYSE, with its local headquarters in the so-called Indian Silicon Valley, the city of Bangalore in Karnataka, “a highly educated area well-suited for partnerships with foreign entities,” as confirmed by the Italian Consul in India, Alfonso Tagliaferri.

There is a long list of companies to explore partnerships in India: manufacturing companies, machinery, and equipment companies, as well as chemical and material companies, especially plastics; textile and fashion companies; and finally, food companies, particularly in the coffee and wine sectors.

Opportunities abound, in short. Kaleyra, “an Italian company in the Indian Silicon Valley, could become an attractive hub for other Italian entities.”
