The Kaleyra success story: Looking back at a phenomenal year of growth

We have come a long way from our humble beginning as a startup to our current presence as a global CPaaS platform offering multi-channel integrated communication services to some of the world’s largest enterprise entities, managing billions of messages monthly to users in over 190 countries. The last financial year has been a phenomenal year for us in terms of growth. 

Here is a look at some of the major milestones we achieved in 2019:

We got listed on NYSE

One of our most significant milestones last year was being listed in the NYSE. We began our journey as a publicly-traded company on November 26th, 2019. Our transition into the U.S. capital markets as a public company has opened up new opportunities and put us on the map as a global brand with a significant presence in Europe, South Asia, the Middle East, and North America. 

We scaled our platform performance

We have worked tirelessly to add new features, introduce new products, and scale the platform performance to drive communication and revenue for some of the world’s largest brands. During the year 2019, our CPaaS platform functioned at a tremendous scale sending out 27+ billion messages and handling over 3 billion voice calls.

We achieved revenue growth

We increased our revenue and are up 66% year-over-year. In 2019, we efficiently earned a total annual revenue of $129.6 million, reaching a gross margin of 20.3%. In addition to our existing customers, we got new business from several high-profile U.S. clients. We will continue our focus to drive value to our customers and invest in new initiatives to strengthen our product portfolio. We will also focus on product innovation, especially for the financial and banking industry. 

We expanded our team.

Our team strength grew, and we are now close to 300 members spread across 12 locations, including offices in Italy, India, Switzerland, the United Arab Emirates, the United States, and Singapore. As our global enterprise customer base grows, we expect to scale our workforce across teams, including technology and operations. Despite the current global crisis and difficulties, we are not afraid to grow. Even with the lockdown and other obstacles, we are still hiring with online tools and resources.
